This is our final week of our first theme “Ready for School”. This week we will be reading the book “The Little Red Hen” which is one of Ms. Ashley’s favorites. If you hear your child saying “not I” when you ask who will help, you can blame the cat, the dog, and the goose from the book! This book is great to read at home; have your child help you fill in the blanks of the repeated phrases such as “not I”. If you child is non-verbal you can always have them clap or pat their laps to fill in the words (“not I” “clap clap”). We will also be using flour and oil for some sensory play. (5 cups flour and 1 cup vegetable oil if you want to try this at home too.)
We spent a lot of time this month reading “The Kissing Hand”. We did lots of activities making kissing hands so we can remember that our families love us when we are school too.
In the middle of October, we will be starting our next theme “My Family”. Please take the time to create the “My Family Book” with your child so we can read about your family at school. Look at pictures of your family, talk about family traditions you have, and read books about families so our students can see that all families are different.
Upcoming Important Dates:
Oct. 9th No school
Oct. 24th No school
October 31st Halloween celebration at 10:45am
