Both PEP classes have started learning about restaurants. We've set up an amazing italian restaurant called "PEPpers" in Ms. Catherine's class, complete with a salad bar, pizza station and an aromatic pasta sensory table! In Ms. Angela's classroom we're flippin some dogs and burgers at "PEP Burgers", making sandwiches, soups and salads at "PEPanara" and don't forget the sensory experience of our ice cream truck. Our Peppers have really enjoyed showing off their chef talents during play, but we've also whipped up some yummy edible and inedible crafty recipes. Our theme has also lead us to read some fun books such as "Pizza Party" & "Pete's Big Lunch" where we made a too big to eat silly sandwich. Sherwood PEP has the recipe for fun, so check us out!!!
Today we finished up our gingerbread/family unit by decorating our very own gingerbread boys and girls. We had a lot of fun squeezing all the different colored icing onto our cookies and then adding different candies as eyes, noses, and buttons. We all tasted our cookies! Some friends loved their cookies, others preferred to eat the candy without the cookie! Everybody had a great time! The PEP team here at Sherwood wants to wish everybody happy holidays and a very wonderful New Year! We can't wait to see you all in 2014!!!!! Today both classes made super yummy apple pie milkshakes! Each friend helped us to gather our ingredients and read the directions. We took turns scooping ice cream and apple pie filling and putting it into the blender. Then we added a few shakes of cinnamon and a splash of milk and it was time to blend. It was so much fun pressing the button on the blender and watching the icecream spin around! The best part was squeezing the yummy caramel on top of our milkshakes! Everybody tasted the milkshakes and some friends couldn't get enough!!!! We love cooking!! We had so much fun making chocolate pudding today! It was fun following each direction, especially squeezing the milk into the bowl. It was just like milking a cow! Each friend got a turn to help with a different ingredient and we all got turns using the mixer. When the pudding was ready we all had a little taste! Some friends really enjoyed their pudding while others preferred their chips and crackers :)
Throughout the rest of the week we will use our left over pudding as mud for various different sensory farm activities. Cooking is always so much fun! In September we made school buses out of bread with yellow cream cheese, crackers for windows and mini cookies for wheels. They were delicious!!!
