Calling all Pep Helpers......we had a great time learning about emergency workers this week. We've been dressing up like fire fighters and putting out our very own fires (made of paper of course). On Tuesday we got a visit from the local Fire Station and boy was it cool! We got to sit in the giant fire engine, meet the fire fighters and walk through the ambulance. We had a ball and learned that fire fighters are our friends and even all geared up they're there to help us!! Later in the week we'll get a visit from a police officer and his squad car.....check back to see how much trouble we got into.
Both PEP classes have started learning about restaurants. We've set up an amazing italian restaurant called "PEPpers" in Ms. Catherine's class, complete with a salad bar, pizza station and an aromatic pasta sensory table! In Ms. Angela's classroom we're flippin some dogs and burgers at "PEP Burgers", making sandwiches, soups and salads at "PEPanara" and don't forget the sensory experience of our ice cream truck. Our Peppers have really enjoyed showing off their chef talents during play, but we've also whipped up some yummy edible and inedible crafty recipes. Our theme has also lead us to read some fun books such as "Pizza Party" & "Pete's Big Lunch" where we made a too big to eat silly sandwich. Sherwood PEP has the recipe for fun, so check us out!!! In February he kiddos enjoyed activities related to stores and shopping. We had our very own Target, sporting goods store and grocery store. The children also enjoyed our flower shop around Valentines day where they could make bouquets for their moms and favorite teachers. You will also see some chocolatiers crafting yummy chocolate hearts (made out of chocolate play dough) to sell for the holiday. We have had such a fun few weeks learning about winter clothes and snowmen! Some of our favorite activities were playing with snow play-dough, making a snowman snack, scooping up snowballs and pretending to ice skate and sled! We focused on rhyming and counting in Ms. Catherine's class and ordering & comparing in Angela's class! In Ms. Catherine's class we read a rhyming mitten poem and practiced counting snowballs :) Ms. Angela's class read "Snowmen at Night" and "All You Need for a Snowman", acting out parts of the story together. Winter's not over yet though...... we're sure there will be more fun to come! This week we welcomed three new friends to Ms. Catherine's class. We are so happy to have them here. We made sure to play lots of fun games and work on learning everybody's names. We had a lot of fun playing in our home and apple themed centers during inclusion! This week Ms. Catherine's class took advantage of the beautiful weather and went on several nature walks. We especially enjoyed riding the bikes outside around the track! We read the poem "Fall the Leaves" and had a blast raking and throwing the leaves all around the classroom! We finally got our swing up and ready in Ms. Catherine's class! The kiddos have enjoyed exploring it! They have all been very brave and tried it out!
